Belding Banner – Wednesday, 12 April 1922
Charles Jerome Hicks, was born in South Otselic, N. Y., September 7, 1855 and 
died at Grant, Mich., April 1, 1922.  Mr. Hicks came with his parents to 
Michigan in 1864 and settled near Greenville.  He was married to Orilla C. 
Rose, in April 1867.  They bought a farm near Lakeview and lived there until 
1903 when he sold the farm and moved to Belding.  He lived in and near Belding 
until November, 1920 when failing health compelled him to sell his farm south 
east of town.  He and his wife went to Grant to reside with their daughter, 
Bertha, at whose home he died.  Surviving are the widow, three children, Mrs. 
Harmon Kohler, of Grant, Henry Hicks of Royal Oak and Mrs. George Arnold of 
Grant; six grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters and a host of friends.  
Funeral services were held at Church of Christ last Wednesday, April 5, H. E. 
Curch officiating.  Burial at River Ridge.
