Hicks, 83, of North State Road died Friday in Columbus Hospital, Chicago. She was born July 30, 1896 in Orleans, the daughter of Zala and Cora Andrews Howe. She was a graduate of Olivet College and taught at Hall School. She also worked at the U.S. Mint in Washington, D.C. during World War I. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the State Road Club, Farm Bureau, Banner Grange and the WWI Veterans Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bob; a son, Robert of Honolulu; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Jan) Burnett, Miami; four grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a sister, Viva Howe, Chicago. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the First Christian Church with the Rev. Ron Dow officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery. Friends may call at the Leddick Funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial funds have been established for the First Christian Church and the Michigan Heart Association.
