Hicks, a long time resident of Ionia, died at the home, 718 West Lincoln Avenue, on Saturday afternoon at about 5:00, at the age of 65 years. He had been incapacitated from work very much of all the year past, by illness. Mr. Hicks came to Ionia from Chicago at the time the Stafford Company began operations here, coming with J. F. Fields. He was with the Stafford Company in Muskegon before going to Chicago. He lived in Ionia during his early manhood, having a farm here and for a time working as foreman on bridge construction for the Pere Marquette Company. He was employed as master mechanic by Stafford Company. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Alice White. After her death he married her sister, Miss Emily White, who survives. Three children are also living; Mrs. J. W. Quick of this city, Edson A. Hicks of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Loren D. Hicks of Kearney, Nebraska. There are 7 grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Charles Heydlauff lives near Muir and there were three brothers, one of whom, Frank Hicks of Six Lakes, is expected here shortly. Mr. Hicks had tuberculosis. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hicks were with him at the Funeral at Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m." IONIA DAILY STANDARD, 12-6-1916: "Card of Thanks: from Mrs. D. A.
