Hicks, 59, of Saranac, died Wednesday at his residence. He was born June 18, 1933 in Coral, the son of Harland and Rose Enbody Hicks. He was a member of Local No. 7 Metal Polishers Union of Grand Rapids, serving as vice president for 20 years. He was a member of the Saranac American Legion Post. He married the former Joyce Morrow on May 9, 1981, in Grand Rapids. He is survived by his wife Joyce; his father Harland of Greenville; his son Jeffery Hicks of Belding; his daughter Tammy Westervelt of Ionia; two half sons, Robert and Steven Wall of Saranac; one half daughter, Teresa Bannen of Lakeview; his half sister Pam Brennen of Belmont; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Lake Funeral Home, Saranac, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Easton Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Fund, in care of the funeral home.
