Higbee, 89, of Orleans passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 at his home. He was born March 18, 1911 in Ronald Township, the son of Carlton E. and Hazel (Smith) Higbee. Gordon retired after 36 and one-half years from Extruded Metals, where he worked as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the Vickeryville United Methodist Church and of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni. He enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting and taking long automobile trips. On June 26, 1938 in Lansing, he was married to Addie Selleck and she preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Norma Johnson. He is survived by his children, Judith (Greg) Hicks of Williamston, Jill Simon-Warner of Orleans, Gary Higbee, Stephen (Deb) Higbee all of Belding; Gordon is also survived by 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Voletta and Harold Lowry of Belding. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Belding with Pastor Larry Nalett officiating. Interment will be in Woodard Lake Cemetery. Visitation 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vickeryville United Methodist Church.
