Carlton E. Higbee, 82, 955 Taft Court, died at his home, Thursday, July 14,
following a lengthy illness.  He was born in Orleans Township, Ionia County on
December 10, 1883 and lived in the Woodard Lake area.  He was a retired farmer.
 Mr. Higbee was married, March 26, 1910, to the former Hazel Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Hazel; two daughters, Mrs. Voleta Martin, Greenville,
and Mrs. Norma Johnson, Ovid, Michigan and one son, Gordon Higbee, Orleans.  Ten
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 16, at the Fitzjohn-Courser Funeral
Home, Belding, with Rev. Robert Lilley of the First Baptist Church, Balding
officiating.  Interment was in Woodard Lake Cemetery.  Pallbearers were:  Glenn
Munger, Cleve Selleck, Charles Brown, Floyd Stone, Milton Smith, Jr., and Dean
Selleck.
