Oct. 3, 2018 STEPHEN HIGBEE, 66 Stephen Bruce Higbee, age 66 of Sheridan, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. A carpenter by trade, if you needed something built, Steve was your guy. He was full of grit and determination and was also never afraid to share his opinion with you. Steve loved being outdoors, whether that was hunting and fishing or riding horses. He also enjoyed watching football games, but just the first quarter or until he decided if his team would win or lose. Steve will be missed by everyone who knew him. Surviving Steve is his mom, Catherine Higbee of Ionia; daughter Stephanie (Hector) Schmidt of Sunrise, Florida; son, Justin Higbee of Fenwick; grandkids, Catherine & Natalie Schmidt both of Sunrise, Florida; sisters, Marilyn Letts of Pewamo; Pat Rogers of Zephryhills, Florida; Bonnie (Ray) Everingham of Carson City; brother, Tim (Cindy ) Higbee of Ionia and friends and care givers, Matt Christie and Kireea West both of Crystal and Michelle Stearns of Fenwick. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Bruce Higbee. A memorial luncheon for Steve is being held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Sheridan VFW beginning at 2 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held at Highland Park Cemetery in Ionia.
