Higbee, 85, who died early Saturday morning, were conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Leddick Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Dow of the First Christian Church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Josephine Barna. Burial was at Highland Park Cemetery. Bearers were Mr. Higbee's grandchildren; John and James Dickinson, Stephen and Timothy Higbee and William and Brian Almy. Mr. Higbee was born in Orleans on Oct. 11, 1893, the son of Ed. and Ada Hall Higbee. He attended Hubble and also Holcomb rural schools. He was married to Violet Rank on July 4, 1916 in Ionia. They made their home in Ionia on the family farm on E. Parmeter for their entire married life. Mr. Higbee preceded him in death on May 5, 1975. Mr. Higbee had served as the Ionia Township Clerk for 33 years until retiring in 1969. He was a former member of Banner Grange and also the Hunting and Fishing Club. He is survived by a son, Bruce of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Francis) Dickinson of Ionia and Mrs. Thomas (Jean) Almy of Lyons; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; three brothers, Harold of Detroit, Charles of Ionia and Paul of Indiana. A memorial fund has been established for the Coronary Care Unit at Blodgett Hospital. Contributions cam be left a the Leddick Funeral Home.
