Ionia County Shopper's Guide, 5 Sep 2010

Phillis (Steel) Higbee, age 85, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010, in Spring Hill,
Florida after a period of declining health.  She taught elementary school in the
Saranac (MI) Community Schools for over twenty years.  She retired and moved to
Florida in 1980.  She is survived by her son, Tom (Hamilton, Montana) and
brothers: David (Jonesville, Michigan) Robert (Wyoming, Michigan) and
sister-in-law, Joan Nelson of rural Ionia, as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.  Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. 
Memorial contributions may be sent to Saranac Community Schools Library Memorial
Fund, 88 Pleasant Street, Saranac, MI 48881-9707.  Arrangements are in charge of
the Downing Funeral Home, Spring Hill, Florida.
