Wayne Higgins, age 13, passed away on June 23, 1924.

The body of young Wayne Higgins was taken from the Canal at the Smyrna Central 
Light & Power Company. 

A search for young Master Higgins started early Monday evening when his fishing 
pole was discovered near the wheel area of the plant. 

Recovery of the body ended a search that started early Monday evening, when the 
lad’s fishing pole was found on the apron below the wheel of the plant. The 
water was lowered this morning and the body found in the water wheel.

The lad lived with Arthur Jenkins near the plant. His father works elsewhere 
and his mother is deceased.
