Belding Banner - News - Wednesday, July 2, 1924

Wayne Bernard Higgins was born near Remus, Isabella County, on December 30, 
1912 and came to his death by drowning at Smyrna, Monday afternoon, June 23, 
1924, at the age of 11 years, 5 months and 24 days. He was left motherless 
when  he was just a baby and has made his home with Mrs. Laura Jenkins, of 
Keene township for the past three years. Wayne attended Tasker school where his 
record shows regular attendance and a keen interest in his work. His sudden 
death was a great shock to all that knew him. Surviving are his father, Burr 
Higgins, of Grand Rapids, three sisters, Mrs. Fred Bradford, and Miss Joyce 
Higgins of this city, and Mrs. Ernest Cox of Owosso, and two brothers, Cecil 
Higgins, of Saranac, and Lynn Higgins of Belding. Also his grandparents, Mr. 
and Mrs. N. E. Higgins, of Keene, and many friends and playmates who mourn his 
departure.
