The Ionia County News, Thursday, July 8, 1948

Mrs. Amelia Hilborn died at the home of her son Ormison, Route 3, at six 
o’clock Thursday afternoon, July 1.  She was 86 years old and had been ill for 
nearly two years.

Amelia Henry was born August 24, 1861 in Whitby, Ont., the daughter of Mr. and 
Mrs. Phineas Henry.  December 12, 1889 she was married to William Hilborn at 
Drayton, Ont., and they came to Chesaning, Mich., where they remained until 
they came to Ionia in 1904.  Mr. Hilborn died in 1910.  The son Ormison, is 
the only survivor.

Rev. J. Lee Lewis of the First Baptist church officiated at the funeral 
service held Saturday afternoon from the Myers Funeral Home.  Pall bearers 
were R. Francis Whitesides, Edw. Krainbrink, Earl Mason, and Bernard Scheid.  
Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.  Relatives from away who attended the funeral 
were Mr. and Mrs. William T. Hilborn and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Decker, of 
Elsie.
