He was born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hile, in Easton, at the place which was then Stanton junction, on October 16, 1842. He had lived for the past 40 years on the old Hile homestead just east of the Berlin Center church. On December 25, 1877 he was married to Phebe Rogers, who died March 6, 1907, and on November 17, 1909. He was married for a second time to Olive Tanner, who died on February 3, 1924. Survivors are a son, Wesley Hile and two grandchildren, Esther and Howard Hile, of Berlin. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, April 9 at 2 o’clock at the Berlin Center church after a prayer service at 1:30 at the home of the son, Wesley Hile. Rev. Kenneth Griswold of the LeValley Church will officiate and interment will be in the family lot in Saranac cemetery.
