CELEBRATION OF LIFE
ALICE L. HILE
Alice L. Hile - Celebration of Life April 26, 1914 - Dec. 12, 2016 (102).

Alice was born in Marne, MI. to Barrett and Amelia (Bertraw) Sessions. She 
married Howard Hile in 1936 and they were an "inseparable team" for 64 years. In 
2000, he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, 
Barbara Collinsworth Johnson and her 2 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived 
by her son James (Kay) of Lansing, Mi and her grandson, William (Willie) 
Collinsworth II of Dimondale, MI.

Mom was a uniquely loving, positive, enthusiastic and organized person with a 
strong passion for learning, teaching and achievement. She began teaching in a 
one room schoolhouse at 17 years of age after graduating from Ionia County 
Normal. She continued her education during summer breaks throughout her adult 
life and graduated from Michigan State University with both a Bachelor's and a 
Master's degree in Education.

She taught 6th grade in Lake Odessa and continued her "college summers" to earn 
a second Master's degree in library Science. She was widely recognized for 
planning and leading the merger of the Lakewood Public Schools library system 
which she then managed until her retirement. She was a teacher and librarian for 
more than 45 years.

A Celebration of Alices's Life will be held at the Berlin Center United 
Methodist Church on Saturday. August 19, 2017 at 11 a.m.. The church is located 
at 3042 Peck lake Road, Saranac, Mi. 48881. In lieu of flowers donations may be 
made to charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at
