Aug. 9, 1894
______ Hile, a deaf and dumb young man about 20 years of age, was walking on 
the D., L. & N. track Monday near Greenville when he was struck by an engine of 
a freight train coming south. He was struck a mile west of that city where he 
was taken by the trainmen and examined by Dr. Morgan who pronounced him badly 
bruises but not fatally injured. He was taken to his home near Stanton Junction 
on the 5 o'clock train on a stretcher by the superintendent of the poor. 

August 16, 1894
Willis Hile, who was struck by a D., L. & N. train near Greenville last week, 
died at about 11 o'clock Sunday night. The funeral was held at Stanton Junction 
Mon-morning.
