Mrs. June Hiler, 67, died in the Tarpon Springs, Fla., hospital at 7:10 pm 
Sunday evening after an illness of several months.

Mrs. Hiler, who has been at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ray Heinrich of 
Holiday, Fla. for several months until she was transferred to the hospital 
about six weeks ago, became ill more than a year ago. She underwent brain 
surgery at Lansing in 1969 and again in January 1970.

She was born June 11, 1903 at Marshall, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. 
Wales. She had lived in Battle Creek until she entered Western Michigan 
university and following her graduation with an AB degree accepted a teaching 
position at Lake Odessa.

She married in Ionia, July 1927 to J. Clyde Spencer of Lowell. The couple moved 
to Ionia where Mr. Spencer established an oil business. He died in 1955. In 
July 1967 she was married to H. Murl Hiler of Ionia, a lifelong friend of the 
couple. He died in 1968.

As a resident of Ionia Mrs. Hiler was active in many social affairs. As a 
teacher she was a substitute in the Ionia public school system for many years.

Prayer service were at Tarpon Springs, Fla. Monday with the Rev. George 
Rentschler, formerly of Ionia now of Tarpon Springs, officiating. 

Survivors include a son, Dr. Clyde Spencer, Lansing radiologist; four 
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Henrich and Mrs. E.C. Lockhart, both of 
Holiday; her mother, Mrs. W.W. Wales of Ionia Manor; two brothers, Benjamin 
Wales of Holiday and Richard Wales of Utica. Mrs. Harold Hiler of Grand Rapids 
is a mother-in-law. 

Funeral services will be in Ionia with burial at Highland Park cemetery.
