The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, April 25, 1983

Charles (Jack) Hill, 85, of 252 Lincoln St., Portland, died April 21 at Clark 
Memorial Home in Grand Rapids.  Born Oct. 4,1897, in Ionia County, the son of 
Charles and Edith Higbee Hill.  He was a retired rural mail carrier.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys; one son, Jack F. Hill, O.D., of Albion; four 
grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Masonic funeral services were conducted Sunday evening by Portland Lodge No. 
31, F.&A.M., of which Hill was a life member.  He was also a 32nd degree Mason 
and Shriner.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home, 
Portland, with the Rev. Dr. Stanley Buck, chaplain of Clark Memorial Home, 
officiating.  Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be 
Michael and Richard Hill, John Bedient, Joseph Hiller, Robert Higbee, and 
Phillip Koelzer.
