Long Treatment in Hospital. Young Woman of Ability Last Saturday morning the news was spread through the village that Grace Hines Hill had passed away at Ann Arbor hospital. For many months the case has been one of interest to all of her friends and tis community. The trouble being caused by an accident has made the illness one of unusual interest to all friends of the family. Operations and every medical aid possible has been done to preserve the life of so valuable a young woman as she had become. Mrs.Hill having been well prepared for active service, had held several position of trust and confidence in institutions of learning in this state and other places. She graduated with the class of 1916 of our high school as valedictorian and was a lady of refinement and culture. The lady members of her class acted as honorary bearers and the young men as far as possible to secure were pall bearers, they were Herald Classic, Roy McRoberts, Forrest Lepard and W.C. McCartney. OBITUARY Grace Hines, born at Ann Arbor, Mich., October 13, 1898, departed this life November 1, 1930, in University hospital,Ann Arbor, Mich., following several operation; and seven months convalescences there. She came with her parents Dr. and Mrs.P.F. Hines to Lake Odessa when eight months of age, entered and passed trough all grades of Lake Odessa public school, was graduated in 1916, being valedictorian of her class, attended State Normal school at Mt.Pleasant and taught two years in the Michigan School for the Blind at Lansing. Following this, she attended and was graduated from the Detroit Business University, after which she held a commercial position in Detroit. Later she took a position in the State Department at Lansing for one year, than she went to the University of Illinois, as personal secretary to the Dean of Agriculture for one year and four years as secretary to head of farm mechanics department of University. She was married to Herschal D. Hill August 10, 1929, in Quincy, ILL. She and her husband came to Lake Odessa soon after, where they have resided since. She laves to mourn their loss, the husband Herschal D.Hill, father and mother Dr. and Mrs P.F. Hines, one brother Gail Hines of Lansing, two sisters Mrs Edith Brown of Detroit and Lucille Hines of Lake Odessa and a host of friends. The funeral was very largely attended at the home of Mr and Mrs Mahlon Hines on Fifth Avenue Monday afternoon. Rev. O.F. Bottman of Central Methodist church officiated. The music was by Mrs.Vera McCartney, Leon Gilson and Mrs.Thomas Johnson. Interment was at Lakeside cemetery. Those present from out of town to attend the funeral were Mrs Emma Bardon and mother, Mrs. William Moreland, Gordon Grebe, Mr and Mrs Arthur Seaman, Mrs Clara Martin, Mrs. Alma Stafford, Mr and Mrs I. Halloway,Mr and Mrs. Blacksten and daughter Sibyl, all of Lansing; Walter Strother, East Lansing; Coe Tillson and Mr and Mrs J.A. Tillson of Pontiac; W.A. Hill, Ursa, Ill; Mrs J.G Hopcraft and Miss Helen Perkey of Detroit; Mr and Mrs Paul Perkey, Eaton Rapids;Miss Celia Ives, Charlotte; Mr and Mrs Cleon Boyer, Mulliken and Mr and Mrs Leroy Stuart of Ionia.
