Graduated from Portland High School in 1975, where he ran cross country, track & High Jump. Began Medical career as a corpsman in the United States Navy in 1978, served 4 years active duty & 8 years in the reserves. Chris became certified in respiratory therapy, working several months at Carson City Hospital. In 1987 began working at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. Chris was an avid fisherman & lover of the outdoors. Pulmonary artery disease & Raynaud's disease contributed to the loss of his legs below the knee in 2008-2009. Chris loved the time with is wife, Brenda, children, Thomas, Ambrosia & Elizabeth; brother Stewart; cousin Ron & nephew Steve among is most treasured. Chris enjoyed making people laugh, his dogs, gardening, yard work, baseball, funny car drag racing & golf. Preceded in death by his father, Nelson & brother, Stewart. Survived by wife, Brenda, children Thomas, Ambrosia & Elizabeth of Ionia, step- children, Shaun (Katie) of Belding, Keith (Bobbi) of Ionia, Shannon (Mike) of Greenville, Andrew (Ashley) of Belding; 17 grandchildren; mother Ruth of Portland; siblings Gregory (Judith) of Niles; Constance (John) of Clarksville; and nieces & nephews. Family request donation to go to the Raynaud's Association or the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. A Memorial will be celebrate by Rev. Dr.Marilyn V.Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Lehman Funeral Home 220 Rich Street,Ionia. Visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at funeral chapel.
