Deputy Sheriff Peter VanVleck, who investigated the death with Coroner Dale Kauffman, reported that Hillabrant died of gunshot wounds he inflicted himself. In the last year and a half he had undergone major surgery, the last operation being in June. Since then his health had been poor, although he was working every day. He was found after his wife, Leona, heard the shot about 5:40 a.m. Kenneth, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeGrand Hillabrandt, was born in a farm near Hubbardston April 8, 1905. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Leona; two sons, James and John; two brothers, Keith, his twin, and Clement, both of Hubbardston; seven sisters, Mrs. Bessie Steadman of Ionia, Mrs. Ivah Rogers of Hubbardston, Mrs. Marion Holtz of Howell, Mrs. Jeannette Greenamyer of Lakeland, Fla., Mrs. June Middlebrook of Belding, Mrs. Hermanine White of Royal Oak and Mrs. Margaret Morgan of Detroit. Funeral service was held Monday morning from St. Joseph’s Church. Interment was in Fowler cemetery. Carl Geller, John Fox, Herman Werner, Robert Barker, Alec Martin and Arthur Cook were pall bearers. Mrs. Hillabrandt and sons have the sympathy of the community.
