Hill Jr. of Belding and Orleans Township, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2003 at his home. He was born on February 20, 1920 in Orleans Township, the son of Burton and Ruth Crampton Hill Sr. Burton was a veteran of WWII, serving in Iran and in the Middle East. After the war he returned home and started Hills Crate Mill. He was one of the founders of the Orleans Township Fire Department and served as deputy fire chief for many years. Burton was a member of the Shiloh Community Church and lived his entire life in the Orleans area. He enjoyed woodworking and was a ham radio operator. He was married July 3, 1941 to Maxine Mossier in Ionia, and she survives along with their children, Shirley and Mark Denman of Belding and Ron and Sandy Hill of Belding. Burton is also survived by his grandchildren, Richard Denman, James and Geri Denman, Matthew and Annisa Denman, Emilee Denman, Merrilee and Jim Thomas, Jon Hill and Stacie Williams, Michael Hill and June Jackson. Burton is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, special friend and caregiver, Misty Smith, special foster granddaughter Wendi Dulek and numerous other foster grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son in infancy, Conneth Owen Hill. Funeral services for Burton will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Interment will be in Orleans Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service at Shiloh Community Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orleans Township Fire Department or Shiloh Community Church.
