At the age of 30 years he went to the state of New York where he remained 26 years, coming from there to Michigan in 1858, since which time he has resided here, clearing up the farm on which he died, and rearing his large family of eleven children, ten of whom now survive him, seven boys and three girls. The girls are Mrs. S. Potter, of Kansas, Mrs. M. Lambert and Mrs. L. Faulkner, of Berlin, Mich., one son went forth at his country’s call and fell at his post in the war of the rebellion. Fourteen years ago his wife died, since which time he has gradually failed in health until his death. Surely great shall be the reward of these children, who lovingly and faithfully cared for him through long years of failing health and months of illness. The family desire to express their thanks to all the kind neighbors and friends who assisted them in caring for him.
