Returns From Funeral, Drops Dead on Floor

Lake Odessa Resident Stricken with Heart Attack Half an Hour After Attending of
Meyers Rites Thursday.

Thirty minutes after he returned home from attending the funeral of his
life-long friend and neighbor, Emerson J. Hinderleider, 68-year-old Lake Odessa
resident, lay dead on the floor of his bedroom.  

According to his wife, Kittie E. Hinderleider, her husband went to the funeral
services of Frank Meyers, well-known Lake Odessa resident who for years had
lived next door to the Hinderleider home in Lake Odessa.  He went to their bed
room to change his clothing Thursday afternoon about 4 o’clock and was partly
undressed when he was stricken.  He was dead upon the arrival of a physician. 
Coroner Harry Myers and Deputy Sheriff Leslie H. Murphy said he suffered a heart
attack.

Hinderleider was well-known by Oddfellows of the county, and an accomplished
violinist, played at many of their parties in Ionia and other cities.

Funeral arrangements had not been made early today.  He is survived by the widow
and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Lane of Lake Odessa, and Miss Frances Hinderleider of
Portland. 

Mr. Hinderleider was born in Berlin township and until 18 years ago at which
time he retired, he had been farming in Berlin and Odessa township.  Thirty-six
years ago he married Miss Kittie Lawyer, of Lowell.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the
Congregational church.  Burial in Lakeside cemetery.
