Ionia Daily Standard, 19 Jan 1899

Emma, wife of Nelson Hinds, died at 12:35 this morning, after an illness of
about three weeks.

Her maiden name was Lockwood, and she was born near Brantford, Ont., Aug. 27,
1948.  She came with her parents to Ionia in 1854, and has been a resident here
ever since.  She was an exemplary wife and mother, and her death falls with
great severity on the home circle.  She was an ardent and consistent member of
the Baptist church, and active in church work until the past year or two, when
her health has been poor.  She was married June 30, 1865.  Besides her husband,
she leaves four children – Nellie, Theodore, Mary and John, all grown to
maturity.  The only member of her father’s family living is a sister of
deceased, Mrs. Verna Roberts, whose home is near Remus.

There will be a service of prayer at the home (for members of the family only)
at 1:30 p.m., on  Sunday, and the funeral will be from the First Baptist church,
at 2:30.  Interment will be in Highland Park.
