Mr. Hinds had complained for several days of pains and a depressed feeling which was diagnosed as a stomach trouble, but death was not anticipated. He was on the streets of the city as late as four o’clock yesterday afternoon. Deceased was a son of Leander Hinds, one of the earliest settlers of northern Ionia county. The father died early in the boy’s life, and deceased spent nearly all the years from his twelfth anniversary until he enlisted in the civil war, as a member of the family of John B. Welch. Few men in the county had a wider acquaintance than “Nel.” Hinds. His age was about 63. The good wife preceded him to the realm of rest some two years, and of the immediate family there are left four children—two sons and two daughters: John B. L. of Kankakee, Ill., and Theodore of this city, and Nellie and Mary, who also lived at home. The funeral arrangements are not yet announced.
