At the age of three years her father moved to Noble County, Indiana, where she grew to womanhood. September 26, 1867 she was united in marriage to Geo. W. Hines. Three sons were born to them, Perry F., Mahlon E and Orville, the latter dying in infancy. In 1869 the family moved to Michigan, settling at Sunfield, then a wilderness. Ten years later the family removed to the township of Benton, four miles north of Charlotte. During the seventeen years spent there Mr. and Mrs. Hines united with the West Benton M. E. Church, of which they were charter members. They took an active part in forwarding the erection of the church building there. In 1896 the family removed to Lake Odessa and shortly afterward united with the Congregational church, of which Mrs. Hines was a member at the time of her death. Sister Hines was a devoted wife, an affectionate mother, a kind neighbor, and maintained her faith and hope in her risen Lord to the end of life. Latterly feeble health has prevented the attendance at and devotion to the church of Christ which characterized her earlier years. Although a patient sufferer for many months, at the last death came suddenly, and peacefully our sister fell asleep June 17, 1910.
