March 8, 1951 Marshall Hines Passes Sunday In Dearborn Marshall Hines, 57, veteran of World War I and Ionia County drain commissioner, passed away Sunday forenoon at the Veteran's hospital at Dearborn where he had been a patient for about three months. He came here from Charlotte where he was engaged in farming and purchased the farm on Musgrove highway about ten years ago. He was serving his second term as drain commissioner, also was a member of the Lakeside grange and La Verne Demaray Post No. 112 American legion. Surviving are his wife Grace, two sons Hugh and Ralph both of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Robert and Reuben of Mt. Pleasant, and Grover of Drain, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs.Herman Fritz of Grand ledge and Mrs. Cora Hammond of Columbus, Ohio, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 at the Pickens chapel under auspices of the American legion post with burial in lakeside cemetery. Rev. A. J. Pitman officiating. William Balduf, Sebewa township farmer was appointed to the board of supervisors last week as deputy drain commissioner to serve the unexpired term of Mr. Hines.
