C. Watkins on Tuesday, after a week of intense suffering. Mr. Hinkley’s home of late has been at Marion, and he came here just a week before his death on business. Being acquainted with the Watkins’ he went there to board for the little while he intended to be in town, and his first night there he was taken sick, the best medical aid that could be had was secured, but he gradually grew worse, his wife was sent for and she came in time to spend the last days with him. He has three children living. He was 59 years of age. The cause of death was obstruction of the bowels, with resulting inflammation. On the autopsy, gall stones were found to have collected in the gall bladder to the number of over a hundred, but these were not the direct cause of death, although he has been troubled with these for a period of eight years. The remains were taken to his home at Marion on Tuesday. George L. Hinkley was born in Hillsdale county, April 7, 1845. he resided in Hillsdale county with his parents until 1875, when he was united in marriage with Miss Arabella Sowtelle, of Darlington, Wisconsin. He then moved to Osceola county, where he took up a homestead. He and his faithful wife went five miles into what was then a vast wilderness and put up their first home, a log cabin.
