The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, November 20, 1987

William H. Hitchcock, 77, of Ionia died Thursday at Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital.  Born Jan. 7, 1910, in Orange Township, he was the son of Jeff and 
Mary Courtnay Hitchcock.  

He was married to Evelyn Bowen May 16, 1936, in Angola, Ind.  A farmer, he was 
also employed at General Tire (DiversiTech General) for 31 years, retiring in 
1974.  He was a member of Ionia Senior Citizens.

Surviving are his wife Helen; two daughters, Mrs. Hoye (Mary Ella) Wireman of 
Ionia and Mrs. Gary (Connie) Shoemaker of Kalamazoo; a son, Robert of Fenton; 
four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a sister, Beatrice Shramm of 
Portland, and his twin brother, Thomas Hitchcock of Florida.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. from the Rich Street Chapel of Cook 
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kathryn Coombs officiating.  Burial will be in 
Easton Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 
7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.  Memorials have been established for Easton United 
Methodist Church or the American Lung Association.
