Hitchcock, answered to the last roll call Tuesday evening, April 12, 1921, at the Vance House in Pewamo. He had reached the age of 82 years. Mr. Hitchcock was a pioneer of Hubbardston and years ago was a hardware dealer. About four years ago he sold his home and went to the home of Geo. McVeigh to live, making his home for about 18 months. He then went to the Vance House in Pewamo where he has since made his home. He has been in failing health for the past year and when death came it was a relief as during the last weeks of his life he endured considerable pain and suffering. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. W. S. Phillips officiating, taking for his text St. John 11:11. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, paying silent tribute to the high esteem he was held in the vicinity. He was laid to rest in the West Side cemetery beside his wife in the Brayton lot.
