Ionia Sentinel Standard - May 17, 2011


John B. Hixon, 70, of Ionia, passed away quietly in his home on May 11, 2011.

He was born Oct. 7, 1940 in Jackson, the son of Charles and Camilla (Smith) 
Hixon.

Mr. Hixon graduated from Jackson High School, class of 1958. He graduated with 
honors from Spring Arbor College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, with a 
major in business. He worked at Brown Corp. in Ionia for 20 years. He enjoyed 
sports, cigars and yard work.

He is survived by Minnie Hallock, and their four children, John (Melissa) Hixon 
of Ionia, Charles (Kayla) Hixon of Lansing, Joe Hooper of Ionia and Rachel 
Hooper of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Jerry) Hines of 
Jackson, Eleanor Hess of Oregon and Mary Hixon of Jackson; many nieces and 
nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Charles, Dave and 
Jim.

The family will be accepting friends, Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Mr. Hixon’s 
residence, between 1 and 4 p.m. Call 616-821-5223 for directions to location,
