Lyons Herald, 22 Dec 1910

Mrs. Sylvia E. Hizer died at her home in this village Monday night at 8 o’clock 
after an illness of several weeks.  Her children were all with her and she 
expressed herself as willing and anxious to pass over the river to join the 
loved ones gone before, her only regret being the severing of her relations 
with the loved ones of earth.  Mrs. Hizer was a Christian of long standing, 
being a member of the Lyons Methodist Church and an active worker therein as 
long as her  health would permit.  She came to Lyons in 1866 and with the 
exception of three years residence in Grand Rapids, her home has been here, 
where she is held in highest esteem.  She is survived by three sons – Will, 
Ernest and Herbert.  Funeral services were held at the house Wednesday, Rev. W. 
W. Hurd officiating.
