November 30, 2024 HOCKENBERRY It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis James Hockenberry, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother, who passed away on November 3rd,2024, at the age of 79.Throughout his life, Dennis was known for his contributions to the communities he live in; coaching, volunteering, and serving on several boards and leadership teams in both church and schools. He was an avid runner and cyclist, competing in hundreds of races throughout the country, and enjoyed the kind waves from many friends while on his frequent runs or rides.Known for his character, generosity and dedication to the people around him, Dennis left a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Born in 1945 in Pontiac,Michigan, Dennis graduated from Saranac High School in 1963 and went on to enlist in the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor and dedication. While in the service, he met the love of his life,Bj; married for over 59 years, they created a beautiful life together. Dennis dedicated 31 years to the career with the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2001. Dennis is survived by his wife, Bj; sons,Kevin (Leah) and Cameron; sister, Patricia Hockenberry, and Robin Fisher. He is lovingly known as Papa to his grandchildren Emerson, Greyden, Kyle, and Emma (Jarred), and great-grandchild Mitchel, who were the greatest pride of his heart. In addition, Dennis was proud to have countless friends and comrades who will forever remember his kindness, warmth, and unwavering loyalty. A service will be held at Shiloh Community Church (8197 Heth St.,Orleans MI 48865)on December 4th, with visitation from 10-11 am followed by a Memorial Service and Luncheon at the Church.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dennis's memory to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital.May Dennis rest in peace, forever in our hearts and in the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ.
