Estella M. Hodge, 97, of 407 S. Pearl Street, Belding, died Sunday at her
residence.  Born Dec. 15, 1897, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of James
and Hanna Louise Mitchell.  She was graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in
the Class of 1914.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Belding and a life member
of American Legion Auxiliary, Post 203.  She was married April 10, 1925 to
Laurence Hodge; he died Nov. 16, 1978.

Surviving are a daughter, Louanna Elya of Grandville; a son, Willard Hodge of
Redlands, Calif., 16 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.  She was
preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1973, and by a grandson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Johnson Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Dick Woodward officiating.  Burial will be in River Ridge Cemetery.  The
family will be at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  A
memorial for First Congregational Church of Belding has been established, in
care of the funeral home.
