             Mother of Ten Passes Thursday After Long Illness

Last rites for Mrs Matilda Hodges were conducted from the Fitzjohn Home Sunday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating.Burial was in the Smyrna 
Cemetery.

Mrs. Hodges passed away Thursday evening at the Belding City Hospital where she 
had been taken over a month ago for treatment. She was 78 years of age.

She was born March 8,1875 at Saybrook, Ill. and was the widow of Jesse Hodges.

Surviving are six daughters,Mrs.Nancy Mosher and Mrs.Ethel Runstrum, Grand 
Rapids, Mrs.Richard Peterman and Mrs.Gladys Kerns, Greenville, and Mrs.Lucille 
Taylor, Sand Lake; four sons, Arthur of Williamstown, Everett, Greenville and 
Lloyd and Elmer of this city; 16 grandchildren and 31 geat-grandchildren.
