Miss Hodgkins has lived in Ionia most of her life and was graduated from Ionia high school in 1899. She lived in an apartment at the corner of Union and Washington streets before she fell fracturing her hip about a year ago. She spent her time watching through her apartment window, which was filled with flowers, doing needlework, before being confined. Miss Hodgkins won many prizes for needlework at the Ionia free fair and won the first Ionia merchant’s automobile drawing at the fair in 1916. She had worked for many years as a bookkeeper and clerk and the C. B. Jack store, at the Carten store and for Roth and Reed grocery. She also assisted her brother, the late John Hodgkins, in the operation of his Morse street grocery. During Word War II she was employed in the cafeteria of the Fisher Body plant in Ionia. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Myers funeral home with Rev. John Hadley of Lincoln Avenue Baptist church officiating. Final burial will be at Tuttle cemetery.
