Hodgkins, age 79 of Ionia, passed away March 25, 2015. He was born March 22, 1936, in Ionia the son of Richard and Hilda (Wakefield) Hodgkins. Richard married Beverly Cronk on Oct. 26, 1957, in Ionia. He was a member of Berlin Center Church. Richard loved his cottage and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He retired after 28 years at Oldsmobile in skilled trades, worked as a police officer for the City of Greenville, and an attendant for Riverside Corrections Facility. Richard could fix anything and everything. He loved his wife dearly and enjoyed visiting with friends and family and giving lots of hugs. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Hodgkins of Ionia; children, Steve (Tracy) Hodgkins of Ionia, Deb (Chris) Kenyon of Ionia, Cheri (Scott) Anderson of Ionia, and Angela Dwyer (Jeff Chapko) of Ionia; brothers, Bill (Mi Hae) Hodgkins of Texas and Fred Hodgkins of Vancouver Island; sister, Pat Chambers of Fenwick; grandchildren, Stacy (Chris) Moore, Kristina Kenyon, Brad (Brianna) Kenyon, Stephanie (Tom) Batista, Danielle (Adam) Camp, David (Kate) Hodgkins, Niki (Ryan) Kimble, Hanna Anderson, Katie (Alex) Crespo, and Kayla Dwyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peg VanShaugen; several brother and sister-in-laws, and grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 with Pastor Ray Sundell officiating. Visitation on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Balcom Cemetery. those wishing may make contributions in Richard’s name to the Achondro-plasia – March of Dimes, Leukemia Foundation, or American Diabetes Association.
