Hodgman, 84, from the Lyons Baptist church with the pastor, the Rev. Elmer Ubbink officiating. Mrs. Lawrence Albright, church organist had charge of the music. Mr. Hodgman, who passed away at his home in Lyons early August 14 after a long illness, was born September 2, 1875, at the farm home south of Lyons now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Francis Peckins. He was the son of Clarence and Mary Hodgman and had lived in Lyons and vicinity all of his life. He attended the Crane school and Lyons high school. He was married November 28, 1900 to Hattie Gardner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner of Muir. In 1950 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They had lived in their present home for 52 years. Mr. Hodgman was a life member and past worshipful master of Lyons lodge F&AM. For several years Mr. Hodgman ran a dray line in Lyons and his dray and fine team were a familiar sight on the streets. He took a great amount of pride in his garden until ill health compelled him to give up his work. He is survived by his wife, Hattie, one son, Raymond, route one, Ionia; four daughters, Miss Louise Hodgman, Mrs. Mildred Hodgman at home; Mrs. Lawrence (Lena) Randall and Miss Julia Hodgman, Muskegon; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Miss Julia Hodgman of Avon, N.Y., who is 82. One son, Charles, died in infancy and one son, George N., passed away in March 1959. Bearers were Elmer Hopkins, Stephen W. Kimball, Alfred E. Faxon, James Hopkins, Lloyd Burger and Owen W. Smith, all of whom are members of Lyons Masonic lodge. Interment was in the Lyons cemetery. Those from away who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Randall and son, Keith, and Miss Julia Hodgman, Muskegon; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Radulski, Grand Haven; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hodgman, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Brandt, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Steele, Mrs. H.E. Hendrickson, Mrs. Ned Halsted, Mrs. Roy Miller, Lewis Winright, Arthur Reeder, Mrs. Theodore Sprank, Ionia; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hodgman, Orleans; Mrs. Lois Case, Fenwick, Mrs. Bert Benjamin, Pewamo.
