Portland Review & Observer, 2 Oct 1980

Elta May Hoffman, 80, of 1800 Lillian Blvd., died at a Lansing hospital on
September 24, 1980.  She was born January 21, 1900 in Sebewa Township and was
the daughter of Frank and Florence Cassel.  Mrs. Hoffman’s husband, George,
preceded her in death.  

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Mary Margaret) Pearl of Lansing;
three grandchildren and one great grandchild; her mother, Mrs. Florence Cassel
of Portland; one brother, Joseph Cassel of Portland; three sisters, Jennie
Brundage of Lansing, Mrs. Alton Knisely of Lansing, and Mrs. Julia Whorley of
Saranac. 

Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church and the
Rebekah lodge.  

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Neller Funeral Home in
Portland.
