Hofstra (Hulliberger), age 73, of Soldotna, Alaska, formerly of Lake Odessa, Michigan, peacefully passed on to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 25, 2014 at Oasis of Hope Hospital. The Lord saw fit to give her rest and end her courageous battle with cancer. Marcia was born to Orley K. and Elizabeth F. (Stauffer) Hulliberger November 24, 1940 in Lake Odessa. She graduated from Lake Odessa H.S. in 1958 and Grace College in 1962 and married Donald Hofstra June 5, 1964. She began her teaching career in Jenison, Michigan and retired from Lakewood Public Schools. She loved to sing and play the piano and organ in numerous churches throughout her life. Marcia was a charter member of Aleutian Bible Church and associate member of Whitneyville Bible Church. She loved to be outside and to travel and visit friends and family. She is survived by: her husband Donald, her daughters; Jane and Dale Ruckman, Jeanne and Philip Postma, her grandchildren; Jasmine, Harley, Ciera, and Dustin Ruckman, Sabriah, Jordan, Ellyana, and Isaiah Postma, her sisters; Lorraine and Marvin Stuart, Norma Lathrop, Don's brothers; Tom and Alma, Roger, Ken and Kathie, Jim and Pat, Randy and Karen Hofstra, and sister Patricia Jenny, her aunts; Mary Good and Colleen Stauffer, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her son Jon Mark Hofstra in 1992, her parents, Don's parents Merton and Kathleen Hofstra, her brothers in law; Paul Shellenbarger, Robert Lathrop, and Joseph Jenny. Visitation will be Friday April 4 at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will take place Saturday April 5, 11a.m. at Whitneyville Bible Church 8655 Whitneyville Ave. SE, Alto, MI 49302, with visitation from 10am until time of service. A luncheon will follow the funeral and a 3 p.m. graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa. Memorials may be given in Marcia's name for her grandchildren's ministry and spiritual growth opportunities including mission trips and Bible camp.
