Hogan, 80, passed away Friday morning at her home west of Smyrna. She had been confined to her bed for 10 days but a heart ailment kept her in ill health for a much longer time. Mrs. Hogan was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Ransom and was born at Woods Corners, May 14, 1870, having lived in Ionia County most of her life and on the farm west of Smyrna, 49 years. She was married to William Hogan, August 10, 1891, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary seven years ago at their home. She was a 50 year life member of the Smyrna Maccabees and an honorable member of the Friendship club. Surviving are the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Donald Pierce, of Ionia, two sons, Ray of Rush, N. Y. and Lloyd of Ionia; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Byron Haskin of Ionia. The body was cared for at the Fales-Huffman Funeral Chapel and remained there until Sunday when it was returned to the home where funeral services were held Monday at 2:30, Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating and the body was interred in Smyrna cemetery. Pall bearers were Royal Davis, Harold Davis, Rolland Brownell, Layton McDonald, Nugent Byrne and Andrew Juhl.
