Hogan, 69, a guard at the Michigan reformatory until March 14 died at his home on Lafayette street Sunday morning at 11:50. He had appeared in good health until about three weeks ago when he had an attack of the flu. Death was the result of a heart attack. James Hogan was born September 5, 1872, in Hubbardston, the son of Cornelius and Anna Hogan. On November 8, 1904, he married Lena Todd who came from Ballin Keelin County, Carlow, Ireland, when she was sixteen. They were married at SS. Peter and Paul church. Mrs. Hogan died in June 1939. Mr. Hogan was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church in Ionia. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name society. He is survived by six sons, Cornelius and James P. of Ionia; Joseph M., John F., William L., and Richard P., all of Detroit; one daughter, Mrs. Leo Everest of Muskegon Heights. Also five brothers, John, Perry, Patrick, Teal, and Thomas and one sister, Mrs. Mayme Beahan, all of Hubbardston. Also eight grandchildren. Funeral service will be held from the SS. Peter and Paul church Wednesday morning, at 9:00 a.m. with Rev. John S. Fons officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home at 138 Lafayette street.
