March 1, 2001 at Spectrum Health Downtown Campus in Grand Rapids. Raymond Harold Holford was born April 11, 1935 in Ionia Township the son of George Harold and Alice E. (Laycock) Holford. He grew up in Ionia and attended Ionia school. Ray worked 17 years at Brown Corporation and then worked at American Bumper, retiring in 1993. Mr. Holford was married Nov. 27, 1955 in Waterfield to Virginia Lee Allen and she preceded him in death in 1995. He was a little league leader for many years and a foster grandparent for Eight Cap where he also worked with handicapped children. Ray loved NASCAR and Rusty Wallace. Mr. Holford is survived by his special friend, Jackie Morris; four daughters, Connie Holford of Stanton, Bonnie Holford of Sidney, Barbara (Nelson) Gregory of Stanton and Kimberly (Brian) Jenison of Stanton; three sons, Ronnie (Ava) Holford of Crystal, Robert (Mary) Holford of Ionia and Johnny Ray (Debbie) Allen of Stanton; two stepdaughters, Debra (Allen) Frederick of Mt. Pleasant and Dawn (Rich) Williams of Belding; one stepson, Ron (Cathy) Devereaux of Belding; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Ron) Trahan of Livonia; one brother, Robert (Ruth) Holford of Mt.Pleasant; two aunts, Doris Smith of Belding and Lucille Laycock of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting times for Mr. Raymond H. Holford will be Saturday at Myers Memorial Chapel, 148 East Main St., Ionia from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will be no funeral service. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the Holford Family. Envelopes are available at Myers Chapel.
