Holloway, died at the home of her son Herbert in this village, Monday forenoon of this week. She would have been 61 years of age the 18th of February. Hodgkins disease is given by Dr. Allen as being cause of death. Mrs. Holloway had been in poor health for some time and had been in her son’s home since October. Last Sunday the attending physician pronounced her symptoms better and she seemed brighter, but it was only temporary, death ensuing about 24 hours later. Mrs. Holloway was a native of Peru, Ohio, where she was married in 1865 to the husband who survives her. She is also survived by two sons – Ross L. of Caro, and the one mentioned above. She was a sister of C.S. Ryerson of Woodbury and Mrs. Frank Hixson of Three Rivers? and brothers in Ohio not known to our readers. The family came to Portland 39 years ago and are among the most respected in our community. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the house where she died, by Rev. Fistier of Baptist church, of which she was a member. She was a member of L. L. C., and the club will attend the funeral in a body. There is one peculiarly sad feature in connection with Mrs. Holloway’s death. Her husband is in the asylum at Traverse City for treatment for brain trouble and is too ill to be told of her death, he being confined to the bed. He had not seen his wife for some months, but the family think it not best to send him word. He probably… [unreadable lines]…and before his affliction came to the husband and father and the family is receiving the deepest sympathy of all.
