Main Street about midnight Thursday, October 31, after several months illness. She would have been 79 years old, November 17. Ella Townsend, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Townsend, was born in Orange township, November 17, 1867. She attended the LeValley district school and later Ionia high school. In June 1892 she was married to Louis L. Holmes of Belding, and lived in Belding until after Mr. Homes death in 1907. She had lived in Ionia about 36 years. Surviving Mrs. Holmes is a son Fred, Ionia, and a brother Ed S. Townsend, Orange township and a sister-in-law Mrs. Carrie Holmes of Belding. Rev. Dwight M. Kitch of the Methodist church conducted the funeral service, held from Boynton’s Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the family lot in Tuttle cemetery. Pall bearers were Ray Townsend, Lynn Townsend, Elvert, Russell and Ross Townsend. Mrs. Holmes was a member of the Methodist church and a life member of the OE.S.
