The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Friday, December 1, 1950

Reatha K. Holmes, one-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Holmes, 321 
Center street, died at her home Thursday evening.  She was born at the Ionia 
County Memorial hospital October 7, 1950.

She leaves besides her parents one sister, Dale Karen, and two brothers, 
William and Norman, all at home and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Adams 
of Ionia and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Holmes of Frankfurt.

Funeral services will be held at Myers funeral home Saturday at 3 p.m.  
Interment will be in Balcom cemetery.

Subsequent Publication:  Monday, December 4, 1950

Services for Reatha Kathleen Holmes, two-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
Nelson Holmes, 321 Center street, who died Thursday evening, Nov. 30, were 
conducted at the Myers funeral home Saturday at 3 p.m.

Elder Obed Klein of Port Huron former Ionia Seventh Day Adventist minister, 
officiated.  Bearers were James and Lawrence Adams of Ionia.  Interment was in 
Tuttle cemetery.

Attending services from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Roger Adams, Alice and 
Marsha, Claude Bennett, and Miss Jeanne Adams of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Glen 
Coon of Mason; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Trentham and Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Titus of 
Lansing; Miss Betty Briggs and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Briggs and Gary of Grand 
Ledge; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sears, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wheeler and Carolyn, 
Miss Ruth Wheeler, Mrs. Floyd Evans and Gordon Evans of Portland; Elder and 
Mrs. Obed Klein and Norma, Port Huron; Nelson J. Holmes and Mrs. D. B. Lott 
and Jack of Frankfort.


Additional Comments:
Transcriber’s Note:  One publication states Balcom cemetery and the other 
Tuttle cemetery.  According to cemetery records on the Ionia County GenWeb 
site she is buried in Tuttle cemetery.
