F. Tower received a telegram from Grand Rapids Saturday that her father , Nathan Holmes, of Hubbardston, had suffered a stroke of paralysis, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Mercer. Mrs. Tower went to Grand Rapids on the afternoon train. A letter received Monday afternoon conveyed notice of Mr. Holmes death, which occurred at 7 o'clock that morning. He was aged 75 years, and had been a resident of Michigan since 1839. A portion of these years he spent in Ionia, being well known to our older people as a former owner and operator of the Prairie Creek mill.
