Harvey M. Holmes, 85, 517 Merrick Street, died Tuesday at Mary Free Bed Hospital
in Grand Rapids.  Mr. Holmes had been hospitalized since July 18 when he was
injured in a two-car accident east of Belding.   Mr. Holmes was born June 21,
1882, at Boyne City.  Before moving to Belding 22 years ago, he lived in
Newport, Minnesota.  He married Jennie Whitney May 24, 1947.

Mr. Holmes was employed by Extruded Metals before his retirement.  He was a
member of Lodge No. 355 F.&A.M.

Surviving are his wife, Jennie; one daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Artis) Hagestead of
Fairbanks, Alaska; two stepsons, Frederick A. Whitney and Delbert C. Whitney,
both of Lansing; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Colburn of Snohomish, Washington, and
Mrs. May Bailey of Trufant; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and
nine step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Huffman Funeral Home. 
Officiating will be Reverend Marvin Moser and Belding Lodge No. 355 F.&A.M. 
Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery, Otisco township.
