Robert E. Holmes, 57, of Saranac died Sunday at Butterworth Hospital in Grand
Rapids.  He was born Sept. 2, 1936, the son of Randall and Hazel Stamp Holmes. 
He married the former Rose Chase on June 23, 1989, in Ionia.  

He is survived by his wife Rose; his mother; two sons, Dale of Grand Rapids and
Branden of Saranac; five daughters, Terry Adams of Grand Rapids, Debbie Frame of
Belding, Kim Slaght of Lowell, Anita Holmes of Kalamazoo, and Karin Holmes of
Saranac; two brothers, William of Grand Rapids and Richard of Saranac ; two
sisters Shirley Kill of Fla. and Linda Brandt of Lake Odessa; and 22 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, from Lake Funeral Home, in Saranac,
with the Rev. James Frank officiating.  Burial will be in the Saranac Cemetery.
 The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.  A memorial
has been established for the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
