Robert Roy Holther, age 67, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday, December 27, 
2007 at the Sturgis Hospital.

He was born October 18, 1940 in Ionia a son to the late Fred and Iva (Randall) 
Holther.  Robert has been a resident of Sturgis since 1989, moving from 
Belding.  On March 24, 1961 in Lowell, he married Jean Witherell.  Robert had 
been employed in the Automotive Stamping Industry as a plant manger for many 
years and most recently retired from Wal-Mart in Sturgis.  He attended St. 
John’s Episcopal Church and was a past member of the loyal Order of Moose 
#574.  He enjoyed fishing , camping, crossword puzzles, yard work, watching 
the Detroit Red Wings and spending time with his grandchildren.  Robert also 
enjoyed “having a can of beer.”

Surviving are his wife, Jean; three children, Anne (Don) Hoisington of Grand 
Rapids, Bradley (Diana) Holther of Sacramento, Calif. and Cynthia (Bob) 
Fitzsimmons of LaGrange, Ind.; eight grandchildren; one brother, Karl 
Holther,; two sisters, Jean Holther-Trowbridge and Kathleen Tucker; three 
brother-in-laws, Ken (Marlene) Witherell and Steve and Mike Witherell; two 
sister-in-laws, Patty (Mike) Hamp and Sue (Jim) Hickin and numerous nieces and 
nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret and 
one grandson, Donnie.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial Requiem Mass 
will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. 
Canon Meredith Hunt, celebrant.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggest 
memorial donations be made in Robert’s memory to the charity of one’s choice, 
envelopes are available at the Rosen berg-Schipper Funeral Home in Sturgis who 
is in charge of arrangements.
